Perched on the edge of oblivion, he watched the world crumble and reform under the power of nature.
A wave crashed before him, sending cascades of frothing water to dance on his toes. He shuddered with unease and shifted to walk away. The glitter of the setting sun upon a splash of water made him pause.
A clamshell floated upon the crest, the edges of its shell glowing. Curious, he plucked it from the water, his attention drawn to the crystalline light. Hypnotized by the pulsing orb within, he leaned forward brushing his lips upon it. At his touch the world exploded, its life force rising towards the heavens like a phoenix reborn.

This little bit of flash was inspired first by the image from Madison Woods for Friday Fictioneers. Click through to read what the other people wrote. Second, I threw in the words for this week’s 3 Word Wednesday: Crumble, Uneasy, and Drawn.
And last I decided to link it to the Red Writing Hood prompt because it felt very “phoenix-y/rebirth-y” to me (and yes, I just made up those words)

Phoenixy is totally a word now.
This is a really interesting idea, and it conjured up all kids of images… I love a world exploding from a clamshell, it’s like fantasy meets mythology.
